FoodCorps is a national non-profit that addresses the health of the children of our nation using a three recipe ingredient for change: providing hands-on nutrition education, growing and tending school gardens, and getting healthy local food onto school cafeteria trays. So far this year these service members have reached over 20,000 children in 10 states. The members in Michigan have collectively built a school garden hoophouse, revitalized 5 school greenhouses and gardens, helped connect school food service staff with farmers to source local and fresh food, and creatively taught in classrooms and after school programs, reaching over 5,526 children to date.
