Foxhole Farms is seeking a farm manager for the 2013 growing season.
Foxhole Farms is a newish produce, herb, and berry farm located on 7 rolling acres outside of Freestone, in the bountiful hils of coastal Sonoma county. Fed by spring water, we grow small amounts of a wide variety of annual and perennial crops and are working to develop our land and infrastructure to create a working model of a modern rural farmstead. We are certified bee friendly, and of course use no pesticides or chemical fertilizers.
We are seeking a Farm Manager to start March 1, with a commitment to work through the growing season(November.) General responsibilities include greenhouse management, composting, field maintenance and irrigation, leading harvest 2-3 times a week, helping to manage interns and volunteers, and farmers’ market work. This is a full time position, and includes housing, a small, private cabin nestled in the woods. The ideal candidate(s) is creative, hard working, self motivated and inspired, can live and work well with others, is organized and generally in a good mood. It helps if you already have a broad knowledge of plants, landscaping, and farming. Queers and Women encouraged to apply, salary and/or profit share commensurate with experience.
This is a unique opportunity for someone with previous experience to take on the responsibility of running a small farming operation with support and encouragement from veterans and landmates. There is a lot of potential at Foxhole Farms to develop an expertise in farming and homesteading, and be part of a small but growing community of farmers.
Please send an email to Michelle at firstname.lastname@example.org and include a few words about yourself and what motivates you to grow. We will contact you for a phone interview or a tour of the farm.
