Conway, New Hampshire
Head Farmer at the
World Fellowship Center
In New Hampshire’s White Mountains
We are looking to hire a head farmer for the 2013 growing season.
We are located on 455 woodland acres, of which between three and four acres are cleared for farming, of which half an acre has been farmed organically continuously since the early 1970s. The primary purpose of the farm operation is to provide top quality organic vegetables for the sustenance of our guests and staff, but we look forward to exploring other future possibilities, including a CSA. We have a 17’ by 48’ greenhouse and a small, venerable International Harvester tractor.
If interested in exploring this opportunity, please send a letter of interest and a resume or the equivalent to Andy Davis at email@example.com. We hope to fill this position as soon as possible.
About the World Fellowship Center
Founded in 1941, World Fellowship is a multigenerational educational camp and retreat center devoted to peace and social justice. The centerpiece of our programming is a series of lecture/discussions from the end of June until early September about a wide variety of political issues, but we offer varied arts programming as well, and programs for children and youth. We are in the southeastern corner of the White Mountains, in the “backyard” of Mount Chocorua, set on 455 mostly wooded acres which border an Audubon sanctuary and the White Mountain National Forest. We have frontage on Whitton Pond, a pristine mile-long “great pond” that’s beautiful for swimming and boating.
We seek someone with the willingness, motivation and ability to take leadership in helping us develop our vision. We look forward to building a farm enterprise that is financially self-sustaining, supporting the direct costs of its operation. Farming shall be done using organic methods, however we are not initially committed to organic certification. Additional knowledge of permaculture, biodynamics and holistic management is a plus. There is wealth of opportunity for developing educational programs. Previous farm experience and references are required.
This position is available from now through September 31, 2013, but there is potential for it to grow into a longer-term position for the right person. Pay is $300/week with room and board. We will also be hiring two apprentices.
Applicants please send a letter of interest with resume or equivalent description of your relevant experience, background and skills. Qualifying candidates will be invited for an interview. For additional information or to schedule a visit to the property, please contact Andy Davis at 603-447-2280or firstname.lastname@example.org
