Foxhole Farms hiring Interns and Farm Hand

Freestone, California

Foxhole Farms is a small produce, herb, and berry farm on 7 rolling acres outside of Freestone. Fed by spring water, we grow a wide variety of annual crops and are working to develop our land and infrastructure to create a working model of a modern family farm.  We are certified bee friendly, and of course use no pesticides or chemical fertilizers.

We do most work by hand.  We are now looking for energetic folks to work on various farm tasks such as prepping beds for spring planting, nursery work, and harvesting. There are infrastructure and building needs as well. Guidance is available for those that need it and are hoping to expand their skill set, as well as self-directed work for those with more experience.   We would welcome folks who already have some experience with field work and manual labor, time management skills, and who know how to get work done with patience, flexibility, and general good attitude about life. Queers and other interesting people encouraged to apply.

2 days a week (Mondays and Thursdays) get working experience on a small produce production farm, help set up irrigation, plant, cultivate, harvest and pack for market.  Qualified candidates will have some previous education or experience in farming, are enthused about growing at a production scale, and want to be joyful contributors to an ongoing farming experiment.
Farm hand:
2 days a week (Mondays and Thursdays), $10/hr.   Responsibilities include bed prep and planting, harvesting and packaging orders, weeding, and all aspects of field work. Must have experience in market farming, crop production, farm or landscape maintenance,  knowledge of drip irrigation systems, be self directed and an innovative problem solver.

Both positions available immediately, and preference will be given to those who can make a commitment through the 2014 growing season.  Please to express your interest in either position.
