Part-time Education Coordinator
Land’s Sake seeks an Education Coordinator with a flexible schedule. The person in this position will be able to work 10-15 hours a week (mostly mornings) during the school year, and 40 hours a week during the summer from late June to mid August. The coordinator will be responsible for teaching farm-based education programs for schools, after-school programs, events, sugaring tours, family programs, outreach programs, and summer programs.
The coordinator will also act as the Green Power leader during the summer. The Green Power leader is in charge of students ages 13-17 for week-long, full day programs. Green Power is a local food immersion program and includes time spent working on the farm, doing community service with local food organizations, teaching kids about the farm during Boys and Girls club tours, and creating a meal made with local ingredients. The general schedule for this program is already set, so the person in this position would just need to come in and own it as well as set up some of the logistical details. The Coordinator will also be responsible for helping to hire a Green Power assistant to help them lead the program.
Basically this position is the “right hand (wo)man” to the Education Manager. Successful candidates will be highly motivated, organized, great with teaching a large range of ages (especially high school), and a team player. Previous farm or professional garden experience is a MUST as well as comfort working around a variety of animals including chickens, rabbits, sheep, and goats. Other helpful skills include experience working with InDesign, carpentry skills, artistic ability, etc. College degree in horticulture, farming, environmental science, environmental education or related field required.
$15 per hour plus vegetables, flowers, and eggs from the farm.
Please send a resume, cover letter, and three references to firstname.lastname@example.org to apply. Preference will be given to those candidates who can start ASAP.
