No prior farm experience required, though familiarity with farm systems and techniques is a definite plus. Most importantly we’re looking for someone with strong character, a desire to learn and a positive attitude. Interns should be willing to give their best effort each and every day, and constantly seek improvement through attention to details.
Intern will be involved in every aspect of the farm. This includes but is not limited to:
– growing (planting, irrigating, weeding, harvesting, washing)
– season extension techniques (familiarity with types of row cover, low + high tunnels)
– marketing (working CSA pick-up, farmers’ markets)
We offer competitive compensation based on individual merit. Work to begin as soon as possible.
To apply, send a cover letter and resume to firstname.lastname@example.org.
About the farm:
We are a 4-acre farm in Norton, MA (40 min south of Boston, 30 min east of Providence). We grow a diverse selection of heirloom vegetables and fruit, all of which are Certified Naturally Grown. We operate a 100-member CSA, and also sell our produce at 3 Saturday Farmers’ Markets. The farm is entering its sixth year, and we are continually expanding our infrastructure and expertise with season extension methods so that those interested in eating local food have a greater opportunity to do so.
We lease, not own, our fields and buildings and as such, this is a great opportunity to learn how to transform open land and old buildings into a thriving business. We pride ourselves in being efficient with what we have and in finding creative solutions to everyday problems.
