The MassLIFT-Americorps program exists to accelerate the pace of land protection across the Commonwealth. This year, a brand new position has been created with Mount Grace Land Conservation Trust in Athol, Massachusetts, with the support of The Kendall Foundation, to focus on the intersection between farm conservation and local food systems. This Regional Conservation Coordinator will work closely with the Farm Conservation Program Manager to enhance farmland protection efforts across the region. Projects may include conducting an inventory of farmland for priority preservation, coordinating a regional food systems planning network, working with local farmers to permanently protect their land, and developing innovative models to promote the transfer of whole farms to the next generation.
