New Harmony Farm, LLC is seeking a Production Manager to oversee our organic vegetable production for the 2015 season. Our certified organic farm, located in Newbury Massachusetts, uses biological and holistic farming practices to cultivate nutrient dense produce.
The production manager’s responsibilities include growing and harvesting for a 165 member CSA, field crew management and leadership, tractor work and maintenance, farm stand management, and working with the farm manager in training interns and volunteers. This position is ideally suited for an individual with at least two – three years of vegetable growing experience and some management experience. We are seeking an individual committed to a career in organic production agriculture.
They must be able to routinely and repetitively lift 50 lbs. and complete a wide range of farm duties in a careful and timely fashion. Successful canidates will have a valid driver’s license, a good sense of humor, problem solving abilities, collaborative spirit, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work well alone and with others.
The position runs from April through November and averages 50-60 hours per week with at least one day off per week. The production manager will be given an educational stipend and mentee opportunites that can further develop his/her own skills and understanding in all production and business aspects of small scale, whole farm, organic/biological crop production and be part of our
small team as we expand our organic apiary and begin to develop our berry and fruit tree permaculture production. Salary will be determined based on level of experience. Farm housing is an option in the compensation package and offseason employment can be negotiated with a multi-year commitment.
