We are a worker­cooperative seeking excited, energetic, and talented folks to join our cafe, bar, and kitchen staff. We are hiring to fill specific positions, but as we hope to cultivate a multi­talented, cross­trained staff, we’d love to have applicants interested in learning new skills. Prior experience is always valued but not necessary; positions vary in level of responsibility/training­level.

Position: Morning Cafe Staff (Barista or Counterperson {~6:30a­~1:30p})

  • Learn all about coffee, from where it comes from and how its grown & processed to how it’s most advantageously roasted and prepared: complete training in coffee preparation, from drip coffee to espresso
  • Consistently prepare coffee and other beverages with craft precision & artfulness
  • Communicate said knowledge to customers, along with the rest of our beverage and food menus
  • Take and fill orders for beverages, communicate food orders to kitchen
  • Keep all products, cups, and containers adequately stocked

Position: Daytime Cafe/Bar Staff (Barista/Bartender or Counterperson/Barback {~1:30p­~8:30p})

Complete both Coffee and Bar Beverage training

  • Break down, clean, and put away coffee equipment, bring up barstools, etc., to smoothly transition from cafe to bar service in a way that is not disruptive to customers
  • Take stock of and prepare a range of bar products prior to evening service
  • Take and fill orders for beverages, communicate food orders to kitchen

Position: Nighttime Bartender/Barback (Bartender or Runner/Busser/Barback {~8:30p­~3:00a})

  • Complete Bar Beverage training, including serious study of the history and practice of beer, wine, spirits, and cocktails
  • Serve alcohol responsibly and maintain a safe environment of recreation
  • Collaborate with staff on the development of the bar & cocktail menu
  • Take and fill orders for beverages, communicate food orders to kitchen
  • Close the shop, break down, clean the back­bar area and coffee equipment

Position: Cook

  • Completing hot and cold food preparation assignments accurately, neatly, and in a timely fashion
  • Clearly communicating with kitchen staff, porters, baristas and managers
  • Able to work in cold or hot environments
  • Following recipes accurately and maintaining food preparation processes
  • Using excellent knife­handling skills
  • Maintaining appropriate portion control and consistently monitoring food levels on the line
  • Maintaining proper food handling, safety, and sanitation standards while preparing food

All Positions will require:

  • Creating an atmosphere of professionalism, integrity, hospitality, calm, cleanliness and efficiency
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Consistently and accurately using prep sheets, cleanliness lists, and station checklists
  • Following W/N W/N sanitation standards including washing cookware and utensils throughout the day
  • Cleaning equipment, as assigned, thoroughly and in a timely fashion according to W/N W/N sanitation guidelines
  • Communicate daily happenings and customer feedback to managers in staff meetings
  • Be ready and willing to help out in areas outside of one’s direct responsibility while on shift as needed
