Red Fire Farm, an organic veggie farm with fields around Massachusetts’ Pioneer Valley, is seeking a Harvest and Packing Assistant Manager for our Granby farm.
We’re a CSA farm (with roughly 1,600 members around the state). We also sell our produce at markets, at our farm stands and wholesale to restaurants and retailers around New England. We’re seriously dedicated to organic practices and to a very high quality product. We’re also committed to nurturing a community around the work we do: our crew is full of warm, wonderful people.
Please consider applying if: you’re still pretty new to farming, but feel ready to learn more and take on responsibilities at a farm that feeds thousands of people; if you’re looking to work on a large production-scale farm with a small, family-owned spirit; if you are interested in a position with potential for growth and long-term employment.
This is a key position at our Granby location, working as the right-hand-person to our Harvest and Pack manager, overseeing the daily harvest in our fields and subsequent work in our wash-house. In this position, you’ll be responsible for teaching and overseeing our harvest crews in the fields. In the packing shed, you’ll be in charge of quality control, making sure the proper packing protocol is followed and that produce is allocated for the next day’s deliveries.
In Granby our harvests are somewhat specialized: our mixed greens and early tomatoes are grown in greenhouses there. Previous experience with greens harvesting is not necessary, but definitely a plus.
This is a full-time year-round position with potential for time off in the winter if desired. Compensation based on experience.
Interested candidates should send a letter interest and resume to email@example.com.
