Virginia – Baiunm Foundation hiring Farm Manager

Arcadia Center for Sustainable Food & Agriculture seeks a Farm Manager to establish a new nonprofit agricultural operation in Middleburg, Virginia. Bainum Foundation Farm is a 263 acre farm enterprise managed by Arcadia in partnership with the Bainum Family Foundation. The Farm Manager will be an Arcadia employee with the responsibility for operating and managing the farm in a manner that builds and enhances the reputation of both organizations.
Bainum Foundation Farm is being developed on property that had been a horse operation. The Farm is being developed with new and updated farm buildings, new farm equipment, and new and updated infrastructure. Current plans for the Farm include 7 new acres in annual fruit and vegetable production in 2017, with plans to expand up to 15 acres in the following years. The 7 acres are being prepared during the 2016 season. Additional use of the 263 acres will be determined via a long-term planning effort in which the Farm Manager will participate.
The Farm Manager will be responsible for all aspects of farm management, including crop planning, developing annual operating budgets, ordering supplies, planting/seeding, tillage, cultivation, harvest and packing, and record-keeping. The Farm Manager will be responsible for maintaining all farm equipment and the management of all farm infrastructure. Bainum Foundation Farm is not certified organic, but all production will be performed using sustainable production methods.
This is a full-time, salaried position with an negotiable annual rate that will be commensurate with experience. On-site housing is available as part of the compensation package. Applications will be reviewed as they are received with a desired start date by November 2016.
