Bumbleroot Organic Farm 
Bumbleroot is hiring a full-time farm hand and a part-time flower assistant for the 2017 season.
Farm Hand (Full Time)
40 hours a week, May – September
Job Description:
Assistance with all daily activies on the farm including (but not limited to) seeding, transplanting, weeding, harvesting, setting up irrigation, and washing and packing vegetables. Time will be spent in the greenhouse and the field, with potential for farmers’ market shifts. Work is fast-paced and physically demanding.
Requirements:
Ideal candidate has at least one year of farming experience on a commercial farm, and must be able to lift 50lbs. and be on your feet for 6 hours straight. We are looking for someone with a strong work ethic and a positive attitude, excellent listening and communication skills, and ability to work under stress in a team setting. We do not offer housing so reliable transportation to and from the farm is necessary (we are located 20 minutes from downtown Portland).
Work Environment & Schedule:
The job will be 8 hours a day, 5 days a week with a one hour unpaid lunch break. Start times are early on harvest days (6am), and we work rain or shine. Bumbleroot’s daily field operation is managed by three of Bumbleroot’s owners with whom you will work closely.
 
Flower Assistant (Part Time) 
12-15 hours a week (two days per week), June – September
Job Description:
The focus of the position will be extensive flower and herb harvest twice weekly (Tuesdays and Fridays), followed by arranging mixed bouquets for our flower CSA and farmers’ markets. Responsibilities will include some planting, weeding and trellising in addition to flower harvest, and there is potential for added farmers market shifts.
Requirements:
We are looking for someone with experience working on a commercial farm and basic knowledge of flowers or a strong interest in learning about flower farming. Experience with floral design and arranging mixed bouquets is preferred. Must be able to lift/carry heavy buckets of water and flowers and to be on your feet for 6 hours straight.
Work Environment & Schedule:
The Flower Assistant’s work schedule will be Tuesdays and Friday mornings. We will spend 4-5 hours harvesting in the field followed by 2-3 hours making bouquets indoors, with an unpaid 30 minute lunch break. Harvest is early and efficient as we are trying to beat the heat and the high midday sun. You will work alongside Melissa, our flower manager.
