Director of the Farm Program
Northfield Mount Hermon seeks a dynamic and creative individual to serve as the Director of the Farm Program. The Farm Director serves as an educator and farmer/farm manager of the school’s working farm, carrying out all duties having to do with operating a small scale, educational farm.
The position’s responsibilities range from educating and working closely with students, school faculty, community members and volunteers to all other aspects of general farm administration including financial oversight, farm operations, and the marketing and sale of farm products and produce.
The successful applicant will preferably have three to five years of farm administration and management experience, preferably at an organic or chemical free farm and including supervisory and budgetary responsibilities; teaching experience helpful. Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, natural resources, plant science, or a related field is preferred but not required; master’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional qualifications include strong interpersonal and communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues. Candidates should be familiar with boarding school life, be willing to live in a dormitory, and have a demonstrated interest in making a positive impact on the lives of adolescents.
