Left Field Farm in Bowdoinham, Maine, is seeking full-time farm hands for the 2017 season. Employment begins in May and continues through October (approx. 40 hrs/wk). There is some potential for schedule flexibility, as well as continued part-time work beyond October. This is a good opportunity for someone looking to learn small scale farming of a diversity of crops, and growing using high-tunnels for season extension.
We are an eight acre organic veggie farm on the edge of Merrymeeting Bay in Bowdoinham, Maine. This is the farm’s fifth season of production growing a diverse mix of crops. We market our produce through a CSA program serving Bowdoinham and the Portland area and wholesale distribution to local restaurants and stores.
The preferred applicant will have a strong work ethic, pay attention to details, be able to work quickly, work well with a team, be willing to work alone at times, and be able to work under all kinds of weather conditions with only mumbled complaints. A good sense of humor is always appreciated. Previous farm experience a plus but not necessary. The job includes a range of field work including transplanting, field maintenance, harvesting, washing, packing, and greenhouse work. Pay is hourly and commensurate with experience (starting pay is $11/hr), plus all of organic produce you can eat.

Assistant Farm Manager

Left Field Farm in Bowdoinham, Maine, is seeking a full-time assistant farm manager for the 2017 season. Employment begins in April and continues through the end of the year. This is a full-time position (approx. 50 hrs/wk in summer; 30 hrs/wk in winter) with the potential for the position to continue after the season (with six weeks unpaid vacation time in winter). This is a good opportunity for someone to take on greater responsibility, gain management experience, and continue to learn small scale farming of a diversity of crops.

Pay is hourly and commensurate with experience (starting at $13/hr), plus all of organic produce you can eat.
