About Simpaug Farms

Simpaug Farms is a diversified farm located on 250 acres of preserved farmland in West Suffield CT. We are committed to feeding our communities with clean, high quality, flavorful food that is free from harmful chemicals. Our products include small fruits, vegetables, canned goods, beef, pork, and eggs. We have been delivering these Connecticut Grown products to Fairfield and Hartford Counties since 2011.

About the Job

Work at Simpaug Farms is diverse, ranging from greenhouse production, planting, weeding, harvesting, washing and packing produce, and any other tasks that may arise. Applicants should be prepared for hard physical labor. Employees are often called upon to do different and sometimes tedious jobs in all kinds of weather.

We are looking for crewmembers that are flexible, productive, open minded, responsible, and have a good sense of humor to see them through the challenges of farm work.   Previous farming or gardening experience is preferred, but is not required.

Schedule

  • May-October
  • 40-50 hours/week
  • Monday-Friday, 7am to 3-5pm
  • 30-minute lunch break
  • Occasional weekends

Compensation

Starting at $10.10/hour

Qualifications:

  • Ability to complete repetitive tasks for a long period of time in all kinds of weather
  • Flexibility – able to shift gears and adapt to variable tasks
  • Takes pride in and thrives on efficiency and productivity
  • Fast learner – Ability to quickly pick up new techniques
  • Punctual and prepared (water bottle, proper attire and footwear, sun-block)
  • Works well alone and within a groups
  • Can lift 50lbs repeatedly, using proper body mechanics
  • Has reliable transportation
  • Communicates well
  • Farming or Gardening experience preferred
