Maine – Bumbleroot Organic Farm hiring Multiple Positions

FIELD HAND (Vegetable Focus)
40 hours a week, April-October
Job Description:
Assistance with all daily farm activities including (but not limited to) seeding, transplanting, weeding, harvesting, setting up irrigation, washing and packing vegetables, tractor work, CSA preparation. You will be expected to work farmers’ market shifts as a part of your 40 hour per week schedule. Time will be spent in the greenhouse, in the field and at markets. Work is fast-paced and physically demanding.
Requirements: 
We are looking for candidates with at least one year of farming experience, the capacity to lift 50lbs. and be on your feet for 6 hours. Must have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a positive attitude. We value communication, efficiency, and initiative. We do not offer housing so reliable transportation is necessary (we are located 20 minutes from Portland) .
Work Environment and Schedule:
The job will be 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, with a one hour unpaid lunch break. April or May through September/October. Early start times on harvest days and market days (6am) and we work in all weather conditions. Bumbleroot’s daily field operations are managed by three of Bumbleroot’s owners with whom you will work closely.
FIELD HAND (Flower Focus)
40 hours/week, May-October
Job Description
Assistance with all daily farm activities including (but not limited to) seeding, transplanting, weeding, setting up irrigation, trellising vegetables and flowers, pinching & deadheading, harvesting vegetables and flowers, and making floral arrangements and bouquets. This full-time position will work with both vegetables and flowers with a focus on cut flower production, harvest and floral design. Time will be spent in the greenhouse, in the field and in the flower processing/design space.
Requirements:
Candidates must have at least one year of farming experience on a commercial farm and an interest in cut flower production and floral design. We are looking for someone with a strong work ethic and a positive attitude, excellent listening and communication skills, and ability to work with efficiency in a team setting. We do not offer housing so reliable transportation to and from the farm is necessary.
Work Environment and Schedule:
The job will be 8 hours a day, 5 days a week with a one hour unpaid lunch break. Start times are early on harvest days, and we work in all weather conditions. You will work directly under the flower manager, but will work alongside the whole Bumbleroot team. Some flexibility is required for this position due to weekend weddings and events.
