Part Time Year Round Animal Caretaker and Property Worker

The Natural Resources Trust of Easton is currently accepting applications for a part time, year round animal caregiver and property worker for the NRT of Easton’s Sheep Pasture property. This position requires a wide variety of tasks, including, but not limited to: daily care, cleaning, and feeding of agricultural animals, operation of property maintenance equipment (hand tools and power tools, as required), operation of agricultural equipment, grounds keeping, and all other tasks as assigned. Hours of employment vary seasonally in accordance with the needs of the Trust, but position is year round, including winter.
The successful candidate will be responsible for independently completing a variety of outdoor tasks in all weather conditions. The ability to work well as part of a small team is required, and willingness to learn new tasks is essential. Position entails majority of time spent outdoors, with moderate physical labor required daily, sometimes on unimproved grounds or trails. The position works under the direction of the property manager and the executive director.
Candidates must be at least 18 years old and have previous experience with farm or outdoor/grounds keeping tasks and equipment, as well as an interest in learning new skills. Willingness to work in direct contact with large and small animals is required; previous work with horses, cows, sheep, or other large animals desired. Experience in building maintenance/light construction is encouraged. Must be able to work in all outdoor conditions independently and lift objects 50 pounds safely. Must have the ability to participate in all tasks in accordance with safety requirements and procedures of the Trust.
The ability to work independently is essential, as is a willingness to work with others on a small staff. This position requires some interaction with the public on behalf of the Trust. Weekends and holidays are required as part of this position and flexibility with scheduling to meet the needs of the Trust is also required. Reliable personal transportation is required, as is a valid MA license; must live within accessible commuting distance to Easton, MA.
