Oregon – Wild Roots Farm hiring Seasonal Farm Crew

Wild Roots Farm is hiring for our seasonal farm crew!!

We are looking for the right someone to work with us full-time (40hrs/week) from April through at least October.  This person will assist with every aspect of our farming regimen from sowing seeds in the propagation house, to harvest and packing. Usually all our crew works together and sometimes there are independent tasks.  We are committed to helping the next generation of farmers learn in a hands-on environment, which is why we are completely open about all aspects of our business and work alongside our employees.  Come get your hands dirty this summer, take home unlimited amounts of produce and share in our 2018 season while learning our method of farming.

Wild Roots Farm is owned and operated by partners Mary Colombo and Brian Shipman.  This season is the start of our 4th year managing/operating our farm business and our 9th year in farming together.  We grow a wide variety of  vegetables on 3 acres using organic methods.  Our main market is direct-to- restaurants in Portland and we also have a small CSA program.  Wild Roots is located in East Gresham and we are part of the Headwaters Farm Incubator Program, which helps new and beginning farmers access land and infrastructure.  Our farm crew is comprised of the two of us farmers plus another full-time employee who is coming back after working with us last season.

Responsibilities include:
Seed-starting in the propagation house
Every aspect of harvest from picking, packing, washing and storage
Irrigation setup and maintenance

Ability to lift 50 pounds
Willingness to work in all weather conditions
Prefer at least one year experience working on a commercial farm/garden

Starting wage of $13/hr
40 hours a week, Monday through Thursday generally 7-5
