Ouroboros Farms is one of the largest aquaponics farms in the country, providing fresh lettuce, leafy greens, and other produce to the California coast and Bay Area. We believe in growing food sustainably, raising fish humanely, and teaching the community about the benefits of growing aquaponically. This position we are offering is a unique opportunity to learn hands-on commercial aquaponics farming, working alongside a knowledgeable and passionate staff. Includes free veggies and farming courses.
We have recently doubled production and need help harvesting Tuesday’s, Thursday’s and Friday’s with the possibility to add more hours, as well as other tasks and projects around the farm that need help when necessary. These tasks include delivering, cleaning, and general system and fish maintenance. Knowledge of aquaponics is a plus, however we will train and teach the right person. This position is paid hourly and depends on experience. We are an equal opportunity employer.
-Interest in urban farming, aquaponics, sustainability, or aquaculture
-Ability to identify plants, beneficial insects, pests, and growing media
-Understanding of how aquaponics works
-Strong work ethic and ability to take on tasks as they arise
-Ability to stand for long periods of time
-Ability to lift 50 lbs
-California driver’s license
-Plumbing, electrical work, general maintenance
-Interest in contributing to the vision of sustainability and eco-friendly agriculture
-Background in gardening, farming, hydro/aquaponics
-Knowledge of Square and use of it’s registers
