Farm Intern/Farm Apprentice — Dead Branch Farms

Program Summary:

Dead Branch Farms is a new farm currently being developed in Chesterfield Massachusetts. We are actively in production of vegetables and flowers and are looking to hire two Farm Interns/Apprentices for our upcoming busy season.

This is an exciting educational opportunity for the right candidates, as there are unique opportunities to learn the about design & development of new farm spaces, as well as marketing and business development strategies.

This is a part-time position, Tuesday through Friday from  8-3, and will include lunch. Farm Interns will participate in projects under the direction of the Assistant Farm Manager and Farm Director.

Weekly educational sessions and check-ins will be offered as part of this program.  This Farm Internship/Apprenticeship program is a hands-on educational experience designed to motivate those interested in Agricultural Professions, and its purpose is to give you fundamental experience and guidance; aiming to build confidence in carrying out entry-level farm positions.

Program Highlights:

-Greenhouse Propagation and Production

-Growing Techniques including: Planting, Harvesting, Weeding, Irrigating, Pest Management, and Soil Amendment applications.

-Farm Design and Planning

-Production Techniques for this cooler Zone 5b climate

-Land Stewardship and long term Site Planning

*There will also be opportunity to assist at our weekday farm stand in Northampton Wednesday-Friday.

Minimum Requirements:

-Ability to lift 50lbs regularly

-Valid drivers license

-Genuine interest in Farming and Agricultural related issues

The Program will run from June through October. Participants will be paid a stipend of $500.00 a month. Couples encouraged to apply!
