The facilities are well maintained and new with all the necessary tools and equipment at your disposal. Currently we are juicing twice a week, we may increase this to three depending on our demand. The days and times we are not juicing we are harvesting and need the produce washed, prepped and packed into our walk-in coolers in an organized and timely manner. You will need to be able to lift at least 40lbs to do this effectively. There is a break-room and bathroom close at hand and plenty of produce to take home at the end of the day.

We are willing to train for this position so don’t worry if you have no experience in these tasks. We only ask that you have good availability during the week and that you are punctual and reliable. We are not looking for weekend availability with the position.

Some markets are long, 12-6, some are short 8-12. Please contact me with your resume and availability. We are willing to take a part time person with the right availability although we would prefer someone full time to take most of the markets on. We are flexible with days off, but would prefer someone who could work on Saturdays. The market vehicle will be provided for your use to and from the markets, and there will be plenty of produce and cold pressed juice for you to take home. We are a very busy small family farm and are looking for a dependable person to help us out. If you have never worked a farmers market before, we may consider training for the right individual.

New York – The Center for Discovery hiring Cheese Maker

Sullivan County, New York

An introduction to The Center for Discovery

We are The Center for Discovery, a world renowned agency providing educational and vocational services for children and adults with varying levels of disabilities such as autism and medical frailties.  We offer a broad range of programs inclusive of education, residential and day habilitation activities staffed by a workforce of just over 1500 employees. The Center is committed to meeting the educational needs of each and every child in its care. This is achieved by thoughtful and individually tailored programs, the involvement of families, and the integration of The Center’s state-of-the-art medical services.

The pediatric program serves both active and multiply disabled young people 5 – 21 years old, including over one hundred day students and school-aged children from outside The Center for whom there is no comparable program.

The education program has one track for ambulatory and autistic young people; another for those with significant physical disabilities. Parents remain actively involved in the design of their child’s program as it evolves along with the child. A team made up of a certified special educator and two and a half para-professionals leads each class, and a class size of six or fewer children ensures that each child receives the individual attention they need.

The Center’s growing reputation and an emphasis on staff development and training has enabled it to attract talented individuals from all over the United States and beyond. Affiliations with centers of excellence such as Columbia University’s Department of Special Education help make working at the Center a constantly enriching experience.

Our Center operates three (3) large, certified organic (Demeter certified biodynamic), farm sites.   Livestock and vegetables are the primary products.  We have recently acquired a flock of young goats from which we hope to, futuristically, produce cheese.  Therein lays the purpose of this letter.  We are in need of a Cheese Maker.

Employment Opportunities

Opportunities for advanced training, continuing education, scholarships and tuition assistance allow staff to grow in their careers at The Center. Comprehensive benefits, staff wellness programs, day care and some housing opportunities support a high quality of life.
