Schuylerville, New York

We (9 Miles East Farm) are a rapidly growing vegetable farm, commercial kitchen & wellness company in Saratoga County looking for a motivated individual for the 2018 growing season and beyond.

You’ll spend most of your time on routine farm tasks with a crew of 2-4. As part of a small crew working with the current farm manager, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to hone your skills and interests. We’re especially looking for someone who would like to make farming his or her career and grow with our company, and we’re willing to invest the time and effort to train the right person.

As an applicant, you should possess the following capabilities and characteristics:
-be keenly interested in all aspects of vegetable farming
-be willing to work in all types of weather
-be open to feedback and willing to work on your speed and efficiency in performing farm tasks
-have some experience growing vegetables–farm experience is strongly preferred but not absolutely required
-a sense of humor, team spirit and positive attitude are always helpful

Our pay is very competitive at $15/hour. Other benefits are farm-made lunches and vegetables. As a year-round business, we are uniquely positioned to offer winter employment in our kitchen and delivery services if you are interested, although winter availability is not required.

Expect to work about 40 hours per week May-October, with some part-time hours in April and November. We generally like to start early and end early, although it’s helpful to us (and you’ll learn more) if you can be somewhat flexible and work the occasional late afternoon/evening, as certain farm tasks are better accomplished at this time.

Please direct all inquiries to me (the farm manager) at byron@9mileseast.com. If you send a resume/work history with at least two work-related references, it will make a good impression and show you’re a serious applicant. Feel free to ask me any questions as well.

Thank for reading and best of luck in your pursuits!
