The Associate Position

This full-time position provides a unique opportunity to join a dynamic and impactful firm working with regional and national foundations, social enterprises, government agencies, and community-based non-profits to improve community health, and innovate new programs and technologies. This role requires prior direct experience with food systems projects and/or businesses, and a deep commitment to social justice and equitable community development.

The Associate will be immersed in exciting projects working with a small team of passionate colleagues and a number of diverse stakeholders, and will have an opportunity for growth in responsibilities. Tasks will vary and could include designing and executing research; data analysis and recommendations; developing and reviewing business plans; preparing and executing meetings, trainings and events; designing and conducting stakeholder surveys and interviews and more.

The successful candidate must have a commitment to comprehend and internalize the DAISA values and larger vision of the work and be able to manage and competently execute tasks, as well as to take a proactive and creative approach.   DAISA is innovating new approaches and initiatives in a challenging space – the Associate must be excited and comfortable being in an entrepreneurial environment and team.

Skills & Required Experience

  • A relevant graduate degree strongly preferred, i.e. MBA, MPPA, MPH, Food Systems
  • Experience with food systems projects and/or social impact businesses, business planning, and/or with research, analysis, field scan and participatory research
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, keen attention to detail, strong excel, data analysis skills
  • Self-motivated with proven ability to work effectively within a telecommuting environment/ remote team
  • A willing team player, problem solver, proactive and keen to contribute ideas, while also listening and responding to different stakeholders and feedback
  • Fluency with workplace technology – Office suite, Google suite, project management tools, social media
  • Some regional and national travel is required

Job Description for Northern Tilth Field Technician

Our environmental consulting company is looking for a full-time field technician to join our busy nutrient management team.  The ideal candidate for this position is as comfortable working long days outside in the field as they are in front of a computer using Excel, Word, and ArcMap.  We are looking for a creative problem-solver with solid project management skills, including the ability to monitor the progress of the various parts of each project in which they are involved, anticipate road-blocks and complete plans on time.  An interest in sustainable agriculture, background knowledge of livestock-based agriculture and/or farming experience is a plus. Course work in soil science and chemistry is also preferred.

Examples of Technician responsibilities:

  • Carry out field work including soil sampling and identification of sensitive water features in and around farms and agricultural fields
  • Use GIS (ArcMap) for data entry, analysis, and mapping
  • Work with farmers to identify areas for improvement in many aspects of nutrient management, including prevention of nutrient loss in and around the farmstead and environmentally responsible distribution of nutrients to farmland
  • Use data to create nutrient budgets and nutrient allocation plans for farms
  • Manage the creation of Comprehensive Nutrient Management Plans that incorporate a detailed analysis of a farm’s natural resource concerns with the engineering & nutrient management recommendations needed to address those concerns

Required Skills:

  • Confidence in working with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Familiarity with ArcMap software
  • High level of physical stamina for full work days of soil sampling
  • Ability to communicate openly & effectively and develop positive relationships with clients
  • Comfortable working collaboratively with others in a close-knit office environment
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize effectively and juggle multiple aspects of a project to meet deadlines

The Agricultural Division of The Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation, Inc., Ardmore, Oklahoma, is seeking a Livestock Agricultural Consultant III to complement a team of consultants representing several agricultural disciplines. This team provides, without charge, technical and systems management assistance and education to farmers, ranchers and other natural resource managers in the southern Great Plains. The consultant is expected to participate in professional leadership roles and assist in applied divisional and foundational research and demonstration activities.


The primary duties of the Agricultural Consultant will include working within a multi-disciplinary team environment to assist agricultural producers and other land stewards achieve their financial, production and quality of life goals (information about the consulting program is available on the Ag Division website at

In addition to consulting, duties will include participating in educational programs, outreach activities, demonstrations and a limited amount of applied research.  The successful candidate will be expected to collaborate with other Noble Foundation divisions and departments, universities and various agricultural agencies; and actively participate in appropriate professional organizations.


A master’s degree in animal science or other highly related degree is required; emphasis in applied agricultural production and management is strongly preferred.

Knowledge of regional agricultural practices and demonstrated ability to communicate is required.  A minimum of 10 years directly related professional experience is strongly preferred. A farm or ranch background along with experience in applied agricultural research is also strongly preferred.
