Land’s Sake is a nonprofit farm located in Weston, MA that strives to connect individuals to the land to build community and inspire lifelong stewardship. The seasonal Farmstand serves as the hub of the farm from June to October, and each year we assemble an awesome team to sell our vegetables, guide and educate our community, occasionally battle chipmunks, and have a lot of fun doing it.

Successful Farmstand Staff will possess an interest in sustainable agriculture, local food systems, and/or cooking. As a point of contact for Land’s Sake, Farmstand staff are trained about the farm’s many offerings, in order to communicate with customers as to how they can become involved with activities within the organization. Great customer service skills, an ability to work quickly and efficiently, and a good sense of humor are vital this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up and breakdown Farmstand each day, including produce displays
  • Maintain produce quality throughout the day (i.e. temperature control, hydration)
  • Learn produce varieties, growing standards and farmstand products and be able to communicate information to customers as necessary
  • Operate cash register and scales, answer questions, and bring awareness to additional farm programming as appropriate

Qualifications:

  • Personable customer service skills
  • Cash handling experience
  • Be willing and able to work in all weather conditions, stand for long periods of time, and bend and lift up to 50 pounds

Employment Dates:

  • June 4 to October 30, with some training required prior to June 4
  • Farmstand hours are 11am to 7pm Tuesday through Friday, 11am to 4pm Saturday and Sunday. Weekend availability is a must, and flexible schedules will be considered A shorter commitment is available to qualified students

Compensation:

  • $11 to $12.50 per hour, dependent on experience
  • As much free produce as you can eat
  • Discount on other products sold at the Farmstand

Brigham Farm hiring Farmers’ Market Staff

Brigham Farm is seeking an individual to staff three weekly farmers’ markets between June and October.

Brigham Farm is a 20 acre farm in Concord, MA, located on Rte 117 near the Sudbury River. Our fields have been in continuous crop production by the Brigham family since 1824. We grow mostly sweet corn, as well as peas, strawberries, and cauliflower.

At our markets we sell a wide variety of produce and cut flowers from our next-door neighbors at Macone Farm and Crooked Row Fields.

Farmers Market Position Responsibilities:

– arrive promptly to check inventory and load produce and market materials onto the truck

– drive to the market, unload truck and set up tent

– create an attractive produce display and original weekly marketing for produce (ie: recipe board)

– perform sales with customers using digital scale and calculator

– answer questions of customers about growing practices, recipes, etc.

– weigh and record all remaining produce at end of market

– load truck, drive back to the farm, and unload the truck

You must be available for every market, every week, unless advance notice has been given.

This position requires availability for the following hours:

Wednesdays: 10-6

Thursdays: 1-9

Saturdays: 8-2

Allandale farm is currently seeking a Farmstand Manager for the 2014 season and beyond. We are a diversified vegetable farm and nursery on the Jamaica Plain/Brookline line. Our retail farmstand and garden center are located on the farm and feature our produce and plants in addition to other locally sourced goods. The store is open from mid-March until the end of December.
Requirements:
● 2-3 years retail management experience in the food/agriculture industry
● POS system management experience
● Demonstrated leadership and collaborative skills
● 50+ hours per week JuneSeptember; 40+ hours per week March-May and October-December. Dec 23rd-February flexible schedule to equal 20-30 hours per week.
