You are an organizer and can plan 30 days in advance. You enjoy collaborating with chefs as well as spending time creating and updating spreadsheets. You promote creative expression of yourself and others via culinary arts in a mentorship role. You love working in an outdoor kitchen. You can delegate and empower others on your team. You know how to manage a budget and keep track of finances.
As Kalu Yala Kitchen Manager and Executive Chef you will manage our public house style on-site kitchen while attempting to be Zero Waste and source ingredients as local and seasonal as possible. You will carry out the vision and mission of our previous Executive Chef by operating a arts style kitchen, utilizing the creativity and skills of each kitchen team member. At our off-the-grid location, you will make sure everyone is well fed, food is delivered on time and in the right quantity, and that the kitchen is kept meticulously clean and organized.
You will work Monday through Friday and coordinate that food is set up for the weekends. You will work with your supervisor to set goals and track them throughout the semester.
Wilderness First Responder or other medical training
Manual vehicle/4×4 experience

3-5 years working in a commercial kitchen with kitchen management experience or degree related to culinary arts with relevant experience

Deli Specialist – Kitchen Manager Roanoke Natural Foods Co-op
Our Cooperative: Roanoke Natural Foods Co-op is a member-owned consumer cooperative operating a full-service grocery store in the Grandin Village and a smaller urban store, Roanoke Natural Foods Co-op Market Square, on Roanoke’s historic City Market in Roanoke, Virginia. We are also the proud owners of one of the country’s largest urban farms. Heritage Point and Heritage Heights are located less than 7 miles from our Grandin Road store and within the Roanoke city limits. We are dedicated to healthful foods and products, education, and environmental responsibility through the products we sell and the services we provide.

Red Gate Farm, in Buckland, MA, is hiring full-time staff members to assist with the development and implementation of new farm programs. These are unique positions, in that we are seeking exceptional individuals who are both ambitious and hard-working, and want to have a direct role in the shaping of a new farm education program. We are seeking collaborators!
The following positions are being filled:
Farmer/educator – work closely with children on the farm, assist with farm maintenance and operations, develop programming (two positions)
Kitchen manager – plan menus, purchase food, prepare and cook program food, manage kitchen assistants, develop programming and work closely with children on the farm. (one position)
Employment packages range from $20,000 – $25,000, which includes a $12-15k salary, health insurance, on-site housing and board. Successful candidates will be ready to begin in June 2013 for at least a one-year commitment, and come with strong references regarding their work with children and ability to work individually and as a team-member, and typically will have a college undergrad degree. Farming and cooking experiences are all helpful but not required. All candidates must be prepared to do an on-site interview at Red Gate Farm.
