Temporary Farm Manager Needed, May 15 – July 30

Ka’u Specialty farm is looking for a temporary farm manager who can keep the farm rolling while the owner, Malian Lahey, records an album in LA.

Ka’u Specialty Farm is an 85 acre farm that currently has an active 3 acre organic garden that supplies a local CSA.  The farm includes a small herd of sheep and some chicken.   17 acres is currently being prepared for planting in coffee and moringa trees.

Ka’u Specialty Farm is located on Wood Valley Road in Pahala, on the Big Island of Hawai’i.  Pahala is located on the eastern slope of Mauna Kea near the southern tip of the Big Island.  http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Pahala

The Farm is located 5 minutes from the Wood Valley Buddhist Temple http://www.nechung.org/, 15 minutes from Punalu`u Black Sand Beach, and 40 minutes from Volcanoes National Park.

The Temporary Farm Manager would be staying in the owner’s 480 square foot, off-grid cottage with catchment water, solar water heater, propane stove, comfortable and beautiful interior, and would have use of the owner’s Tacoma crew cab truck.

Compensation for the Farm Manager would be $1,800 per month, paid biweekly. This position is perfect for a single person or a couple.
